Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
